Summer Watercolour

Sorry, it's almost a month without publishing.. and I'm not going to share some recent drawing.. Here are two watercolurs I made this summer. They can be useful as a lesson to watercolor. It was a late afternoon in July; I started this one...






But soon I realized that I had used too much intensity in the colours, especially in the hill. So I started again, with less color and trying to use drybrush as much as I could. This is an important technique in this medium, because the white of the paper can play an important role in communicating the light and the dryness of a summer day, and not always I remember to use it, or to use it at the right moment. So I started again, with tis in mind, and I ended up with this...


I think that this is working better. And you? Also the wetness of the shadows is someting that I will use again, in these sunny days.
