A couple of words about the place in the pictures. This is an ancient Etruscan tomb, or maybe some place of worship even before the Etruscans' arrival. It's an archeological site near Limite e Capraia, not far from Empoli. It's referred to as "egg tomb" (tomba dell'uovo if you want to google it). Unfortunately, it's wild, there isn't almost any indication and the archeological dig is closed. Furthermore it's a bit uncomfortable to reach. Anyway, I went there with my oil painting kit. That summer the weather was not as hot as usually, and often it was cloudy and sometimes rainy. That was fine because I suffer from hot temperature, and I don't want to get up too early in the morning.
I share some passages of the painting process.
This area is rich in archeological evidences. There is also a roman Villa of the IV-V century not far from here, with a fine mosaic.
